The Bryant Youth Association (BYA) is thrilled to introduce its new official mascot, Champ — a courageous, kind-hearted bear who embodies the spirit, values, and resilience of the BYA community.
Born in the warm, welcoming woods near Bryant, Champ took his very first steps through the doors of BYA. Nervous but full of hope, he was looking for a place to play, learn, and grow. What he found was far more than just games and mentors — he found champions. Those who cheered him on, lifted him up, and believed in him even when he doubted himself.
Now fully grown, Champ returns not just as a former participant, but as a symbol of what BYA stands for: courage, strength, community, and heart. As the official mascot, Champ will be a vibrant part of BYA events, school visits, and youth programming — inspiring children across Saline County to believe in themselves and each other.
“Every child deserves a champion, and with Champ by our side, we’re reminding kids that they are never alone, ” said Suzanne Passmore, CEO of Bryant Youth Association.
Amanda Herman, Director of Marketing and Donor Relations, shared her excitement:
“I’m incredibly proud to be part of BYA during such a powerful season of growth. Bringing Champ to life is just the beginning of all the amazing things happening here — and I can’t wait for our community to experience it. ”
Andre White Jr., BYA’s Program Director, added:
“Champ represents everything we want our youth to feel — seen, supported, and unstoppable. It’s an honor to serve as a mentor and role model for our kids, and Champ will be right there with us, reminding them every step of the way that they matter. ”
Champ’s mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure that every child at BYA has a champion in their corner.
Keep an eye out for Champ waving from the sidelines, giving out high-fives, and visiting throughout the community. Because when you see Champ, you’re seeing the very heart of Bryant Youth Association — where every child is empowered to grow, lead, and shine.
